Silence is dead, and From Day One killed it. From Day One is a band made up of five guys whose ambitions and creativity run high, from their whip-lashing breakdowns, to their high energy stage presence. Don’t let where they come from keep you from giving them a listen. These guys are sure to blow you away with their utter precision and energy. The current lineup for the band is: Michael Benitez and Chris Schwebach on guitar, Andrew Reif on bass, Connor Tripp on drums, and Wesley Berger on vocals. The name comes from how the music industry has turned into a world of cheap tricks and lies, and how this band will stick to their guns and be true to themselves and their fans with their music, as well as their image. No tricks, no gimmicks, just five guys who discovered immediately what they want out of their music. From Day One formed in mid June of 2008, the Minnesota quintet has been running rampant on the Southwest Minnesota music scene ever since. At first it started out as just a casual jam session in Tripp’s bedroom. But soon, discovering their potential, they turned to each other and started planning shows. Their first show was for their home crowd at the annual Windsurfing Regatta in Worthington. They got on the bill by accident when a member of one of the bands in the festival saw their talent at a casual jam session open to the public. He proceeded by setting up their performance between band sets. In front of 500 people they rocked the stage and set the bar in front of their home audience. The show was a hit and even caught the attention of highly sought after producer by the name of Chris Davidson. Who said, “If it wasn’t for the sound guy, I might have confused you guys with a touring arena band. It was awesome!” The wave that they were on came to a screeching halt when then guitarist Trent Walters decided to take a hiatus from the music scene. With the band’s progress at a standstill they found hope in a close friend. Chris Schwebach joined the group and they were up and running again. With new-found energy they scheduled a total onslaught of shows including two homecoming dances, benefit for the homeless, gig at a local coffee shop, and even a New Year’s Eve show with two other local bands from the surrounding area. Their most recent gig was at the Hot Topic in the mall in Mankato Minnesota, a gig that shows potential for providing more. The band decided it would be for the benefit of them and their fans, to get a bassist and let Wesley devote himself to his vocals. This is where their long-time friend Andrew Reif entered the scene. With Andrew picking up the bass and Wesley focusing on the vocals, the band is ready to face any new gig.
