proof of tom morello's lessons from Michael Angelo Batio

Batio is a hack. sure he's fast and god knows, i love shred, but he's just a speed merchant. No ear for melody.

I think you all mean "The Ocean", ask Tom, he knows. This rocks.

I'm surprised, it sounds better than I expected it to. I'm still not too keen on the Pink Floyd pun though :(

If people are stupid enough to say Extreme sounds like Audioslave, then people need to realize that Extreme always sounded like this, before there ever was an Audioslave. The title is an obvious play on Pink Floyd ..duh - someone said it best in an earlier post - stop the stupid complaints and stop comparing it to other songs. These guys have always been very original.....Extreme fans will notice that Nuno borrowed a whole section of "God Took A Picture" for this tune..

I saw Chris Cornell last year at Hide Park and remember thinking he sounded like Extreme on the heavier tracks! The fact is Extreme have influenced a helluva a lot of bands from the Peppers, audioslave, and my guess even Dream Theater- just listen to "Three Sides" - a diverse a musical masterpiece.

This track is really cool, it's economical in a way that only musicians on top of their writing and playing game can be. Can't wait to see them at Southampton in November. Can't wait for the new album!

They sound too much like audioslave, it's TOO close. Also why use "I have become comfortably dumb" It's audioslave ripping off pink floyd

Well. It's pretty well documented that Nuno has been a huge inspiration to Tom Morello in Rage and audioslave. If you listen to Nuno's project Mourning Widows you will hear heavy rff based funk rock reminding of that Audioslave played.
And again Mourning Widows was around before Audioslave.

Gary did sound the same on Waiting for the punchline way before Audioslave was even formed.

I agree though, it sounds a bit like Audioslave. But if Nuno and Extreme never had been around, I doubt Audioslave and Tom Morello would have been where they are now...

I find it interesting that so many people judge Extreme by one or two songs. They were so much more than "Play With Me" and "More Than Words". They have always been a very diverse band, which is part of why they're my favorite. Nuno is an amazing musician, not just a brilliant guitarist, and their lyrics always have depth and substance to them, even if on the surface they don't seem to. This song rocks! I am so psyched that Extreme is back and that they're putting out an album of new material. They're not just touring and capitalizing on their old material to sell a tour. I have tickets to see them in Chicago and I can't wait. They were great in Boston in 2006! I'm looking very much forward to this CD and thank God they're back! And as for comparing everybody to everybody else, I have no use for that. This is Extreme being Extreme. Anyone who's followed them from the beginning knows that. Gary isn't trying to be Chris Cornell, Nuno isn't trying to be anybody else because he doesn't need to be. T

Oh my god that was an amazingly bad song!
That's great handwork and all, but phew the song was just lame to the bone!
:(

Its pretty stupid to see guys complaining for the title of the song, or that the riff sounds like this or that, or that why didnt Gary sing like this in Van Halen BECAUSE ITS EXTREME AND NOT VAN HALEN!!!. Jealousy and shallow-minds are the words, thank god Extreme is back. And btw, Comfortably Dumb is a pun/homage to the great Pink Floyd. Not a rip-off. Great tune, great WFTP vibe to it. Stop with your stupid complaints and start digesting music without constantly comparing it to other stuff.

Yeah!! Finally!! And I love that Nuno's brought back the Waiting for the Punchline vibe on this song!! Just wish Mangini had continued from the last album. But no real complaints here.. It's great to have them back!

Uh, the main riff is a lift from Changin' Times by Nazareth.......and it's 33 years old.

i get why people would say he sounds like cornell. but i'm pretty sure these guys were around a bit before soundgarden or audioslave so maybe it's the other way around? no offense to either side. both have outstanding vocals and i'm a big fan of both of bands

I don't know, I like the voice, love the instrumentals, and love the lyrics, except for the fact that "I have become comfortably dumb" is nearly identical to the title lyric of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb." I mean, they should have at least changed it a little bit... Ah well. Good job guys, it sounds good, just don't rip lyrics again, please; I wanted to love this 100%.
